ARTS AND CRAFTS!
This week at Mutant, we show a quick concept about our crafting screen.
Weekly Dev Update #23
Week of September 21, 2020
This week at Mutant… our crafting interface is getting a lift. We’ve iterated on some ideas and have now landed on a layout for our crafting page.
CRAFTING MADE EASY
The main goal for crafting baits is to make sure it’s easy to read and easy to manage. Crafting is not the main point of the game, it’s fishing! So crafting has to supplement the flow in a way that gives our players ways to focus on certain types of fish without getting in the way of them just having fun fishing.
This is the current concept for our crafting screen.
You can access this while you’re out exploring the ocean. Right away when you open your tackle box, we wanted your resources and available crafting options to be visible. When you select/hover the different crafted items, the panel on the right shows the cost and the effect of the baits.
The items in your tackle box will glow/highlight to show your selections and which baits you have the resources to craft. That’s how simple it should be.
We’ll be testing this once we get the full systems in and gathering more feedback as we go.
UPCOMING FESTIVALS
So as we said a few weeks ago, we won't be participating in the next Indie Festival, but we WILL be showing off some older games in the TABLETOP FESTIVAL, starting on October 21st. We have two games that we are excited to see back in the limelight: Steamulator and Questr. Questr is one that has seen a lot of changes since we published it back in 2017 - including multiple updates with content and a significant price drop.
During that Festival, we'll be streaming gameplay of Questr and be around to answer questions and just hang out. We're having one of our newer Mutant team members play Questr so it'll be his first time playing it too! So look out for exact times for those streams and be sure to support those games!
